About Points

Every action you can take in the Green Venue Guide awards you points for completing it: when you click "We have done this", the points will be awarded to your total GVG scores. You'll get a star rating for each of the different tasklists, tracking your progresss so far, which you can see on your venue's home page:



The number of stars is calculated as a percentage of available points for that tasklist, so in this example our venue has completed all of the actions for Catering, and achieved half of the possible points for Organisational and Contractual Changes, but has only just begun on Suppliers and has yet to begin on Staff, Volunteers, and Hiring Company Members.

The more important and more work-intensive the task, the more points are available for it. Generally, the "Bright Green" tasks will award the most points, but you'll find a lot of the most important "Green" actions have high scores as well. We've put the points system in place for a few reasons: firstly, it's to help you track your own progress and reward yourself for achieveing targets; secondly, it's an easy way for us to see what venues are succeeding on or struggling with; and lastly, we're planning to establish a Green Venue Award based on the star ratings in 2012 - so get cracking now and you'll be well in the lead!
