Laptops can be recharged overnight (11pm - 5am) rather than during the day (daytime electricity has a higher ‘emissions factor’) -- but make sure the charger turns itself off once the laptop is charged.

- Provide tap water or water dispensers back-stage to avoid the use of bottled water
- Provide good tea and coffee and the facilities to make them – to avoid the packaging
that goes with takeaway drinks (and make life cheaper for staff!)
- Provide an Eco-Kettle – which encourages you to only boil the amount of water you need – or put up signs and provide a measuring jug to discourage staff from overfilling the kettle and wasting electricity
- Provide washable cups, plates etc for staff to discourage
disposables; if disposables are unavoidable, provide compostable or recyclable products

As well as providing the appropriate bins, it's helpful to put up detailed explanatory signage to encourage their use, and remove "general rubbish" (or "residual waste") bins except next to the recycling bins. Your message should always be to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle -- in that order. Use posters, stickers and your induction sessions to encourage positive choices rather than saying ‘DON’T DO THAT!’

- A good policy is "Last one out turns it all off" Make sure that everyone knows what is allowed to be left on by labelling plugs
